Advanced Technology for Distributed Energy System Using Micro-Gas Turbine System

Research is being conducted at various research institutes on hydrogen energy in relation to production, transportation, storage and utilization are carried out for the future hydrogen society. In this laboratory, research focuses mainly on the utilization of hydrogen energy through high efficient hybrid systems combining solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) with small gas turbines. Since northeast Japan is endowed with rich forests, various methods have been studied to use this wood energy effectively. In this field, wood is gasified. The gasified energy is then supplied to a small gas turbine which supplies heat and power simultaneously. This advanced heat and power supply system is investigated.
